5 Ways to Get Rid of Dry Skin

There is no doubt that at some point in your life you have experienced dry skin. Oh the joys of living in a humid country, am I right? Today we say goodbye 👋 to dry skin by sharing with you 5 effective ways of getting rid of dry skin!



1. EXFOLIATE!


The key to actually getting all your products/moisturizers to work is to remove that layer of dead skin. This means using either a wash cloth or exfoliating gloves instead of just using your hands. Using either of these makes it easier for products to be absorbed onto your skin but remember to be gentle, you do not want to over-exfoliate! P.S. STOP SHOWERING WITH EXTREMELY HOT WATER 🧖‍♀️ (yes ladies, I am speaking to you!)



2. Pick the right moisturizer for you!

The amazing thing about skin is that everyone's skin has different needs and reacts to products differently. Picking the right moisturizer means that you understand your skin‘s needs e.g. dry and sensitive skin or an oily 'T-Zone'.


Natural body moisturizers that we like are Aloe Vera gel, Shea Butter and Olive Oil (trust me 🤫 it works! Just add a few drops of essential oils so that you do not end up smelling like a kitchen🤭). Face moisturizers we love for sensitive/dry skin are The Ordinary Creme which is also vegan btw 😉 and CeraVe



3. STOP TOWEL DRYING YOUR BODY!

This is one of the most common mistakes people make after their bath/shower. When you towel dry your body, you take off all the good moisture 💦. So next time, allow your body to dry naturally and see the difference it makes in applying your moisturizer.



4. Do not skip your lips, they need love too 👄


The skin on your lips is thinner than the rest of your face so it needs even more care. Finding a lip balm that works can be really difficult but we have made it easier for you. We found that the Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 is one of the best on the market💯.



5. DRINK WATER. I repeat, DRINK WATER!

Drinking water 💧is not only good for your skin but for your overall immune system. Sometimes a lot of skin issues stem from what we put into our bodies. Therefore, you should also try to adopt a clean diet 🥙 with more fruits and vegetables.

Bonus Tip: switch to silk/satin pillowcases, they do not strip your skin of moisture😘.


Apart from all this, please do check in with a dermatologist 👩‍🔬 in case you have other severe dry skin diseases such as xerosis cutis.
